The active ingredient in this product is Fipronil 0.03% and comes in both a syringe-type applicator and boxed traps. The syringe has the advantage of being able to place the product in cracks and crevices that are difficult to reach with the box trap. Applying the gel this way gets it closer to the actual nests and reaches the eggs quicker.
If one is going to use a commercial product to attack the problem of getting rid of cockroaches, this type has several advantages. Compared to sprays or foggers, it is easier and cleaner to use and is able to target the nest. It can also be used in a number of different locations at the same time.
There are a large number of roach killers on the market today. A person deciding to go the commercial roach killing route needs to be careful in what is chosen. Being sure it is safe for any children, animals or ill people, who are in the home, is a paramount issue. Therefore, careful reading of the label on any product should be done to see if there are any warnings one should know about before using.
Checking to see whether there is long or short-term control of the problem is important if one does not want to see the roaches back in a month or so. How easy the product is to use, if it must be periodically monitored, and how soon one can see the disappearance of the roaches is also of great importance.
This product is reputed to begin working immediately after application and going immediately to the nest where the female has her eggs. It is especially important that the eggs, as well as the adults be destroyed. Otherwise it would just be a short time until the eggs hatch and the cycle starts all over again.
Things are often difficult if one lives in an apartment house with next door neighbors. Unfortunately, if they have roaches they very quickly spread to the entire building. If roaches are discovered in one’s apartment the landlord should be notified. At that time it might be suggested that he or she supply all occupants of the building with this type of roach killer. If everyone uses it then it will not be long before the entire building is roach free.
Keeping one’s kitchen and dining room clean at all times is essential in the control of this unwanted pest. Using a sanitary solution on one’s kitchen counter tops is always a good idea to eliminate any chance of the bacteria cockroaches carry getting in contact with food being prepared.
